Boston Police Department Explosive Ordinance Unit — the Bomb Squad — has its first female member.

Sgt Christine Carr has joined the esteemed unit. They conducted a drill Friday on Moon Island in the Harbor where Carr donned the squad’s protective gear.

She has a decade on the force and was at the finish line during the marathon bombing. Now she’s out to defuse future bombs.
