Dispute in New Hampshire bar led to fatal shooting outside, arrest made

A dispute in a bar led to a fatal shooting outside of the business and an arrest on a second-degree murder charge, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office said Saturday.

Police found Timothy Pouliot, 24, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds shortly before 12:50 a.m. outside of The Goat Bar and Grill in Manchester. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old man from Salem, N.H., was arrested, accused of recklessly causing Pouliot’s death by shooting him. The man is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Guilty verdict in 2013 killing of Vietnam vet out for a run

Michael Soares, 37, charged with killing a 66-year-old Vietnam veteran and retired postal worker who was out for his morning run in a Rhode Island park nearly a decade ago was found guilty on Friday by a judge who rejected the suspect’s mental illness defense.

Soares was charged with murder in the 2013 stabbing and beating death of John “Jack” Fay, whose body was found in a city park trash barrel.

The case stumped investigators until 2019 when DNA recovered from a hammer found near the scene was linked to DNA that one of Soares’ relatives had contributed to a genealogical database.
