BOYS BASKETBALL
Matthew St. Martin paced the offense with 20 points, while Malachi Bryant and Ryan Higgins added 16 points apiece as Catholic Memorial (1-0) staved off a late rally for a 71-68 victory over nonleague foe Weymouth. The win was the 350th of Knights coach Denis Tobin’s career… Senior captain Sam Griffin erupted for 31 points, helping to propel Boston Latin during a 57-48 win over Roxbury Prep…Senior Matt Richardson finished with 29 points Friday, including the game-winning three-pointer with two seconds remaining as Masconomet edged Tewksbury, 67-64.
Freshman Zach Martin scored 15 points, while sophomore Jackson Rocco finished with 11 as Monomoy (1-0) downed Upper Cape 55-38 in the Cape and Islands League.
Alex Krynicki poured in 29 points, guiding Bishop Connolly to a 79-29 Mayflower League win over Diman.
Sophomore guard Dalton Kinnon drilled seven three-pointers on his way to a 28-point performance, carrying Mystic Valley to a 68-42 victory over Nashoba in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference. … Senior captain Aiden MacLeod had 12 points, while sophomores Franck Moron and Matt Breen registered 11 each for Shawsheen in a 66-50 win over Whittier.
