MBTA bus catches fire, injuring two employees

Two MBTA workers were injured Thursday afternoon after an out-of-service bus caught fire in the Arborway yard.

MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo said it’s not clear what caused the bus to burst in the flames, which T employees were not able to extinguish on their own.

Flames were seen shooting out of the vehicle’s “rear compartment” at approximately 3:10 p.m., when it made its way into the bus yard, Pesaturo said.

“MBTA personnel attempted to extinguish the flames, but were unsuccessful,” Pesaturo said. “The Boston Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames.”
