MBTA fixes two Red Line slow zones, weekend work to address third

[ad_1]

The MBTA said it completed rail replacement work to address two speed restrictions on the Red Line, and will work toward fixing the track where a third one is located this weekend.

Lower speeds will remain in those areas for an undisclosed amount of time, until the track is deemed to be properly settled, MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo said.

“MBTA right-of-way maintenance crews have been working weekends and overnight periods to address areas of the Red Line where speed restrictions were implemented,” Pesaturo said.

“This week, crews have been performing rail maintenance activities during the overnight hours near Harvard station and between Porter and Davis stations.”

The T implemented 10 mph speed restrictions between Central and Harvard stations, and Porter and Davis stations last month after a track inspection.
