Nick Carter accused of sexual battery in civil lawsuit

[ad_1]

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter sexually assaulted an autistic fan in his tour bus after a concert in 2001, a new lawsuit alleges.

Shannon Ruth, who was 17 at the time of the alleged attack, claimed Carter invited her to the bus as she waited in an autograph line, TMZ reported. The then 21-year-old singer offered her a red libation he described as cranberry but which she said tasted “off,” according to the suit. He dubbed it “VIP juice,” TMZ said.

Ruth, who has autism and cerebral palsy, drank the brew and now suspects it contained alcohol in addition to cranberry juice. Carter allegedly took her to the bus bathroom and made her perform oral sex, despite her crying. The assault continued in a bed elsewhere on the bus afterward, according to TMZ.

Not only that — the encounter gave her the sexually transmitted disease known as HPV, said Ruth, who is now 39.

“This accusation is categorically false,” Nick’s camp told TMZ. “Nick is focusing on his family and mourning the death of his brother.”

The sibling, child pop star Aaron Carter, died last month at age 34. He was discovered in a bathtub the day after missing a rehab therapy appointment.

This is not the first time Nick Carter, who is now married with three children, has faced assault allegations.

In 2018, singer Melissa Schuman accused him of raping her in his apartment when she was 18 and he was 22. The incident allegedly took place in 2003. The charges were dropped because the statute of limitations had expired. Carter declared himself “shocked and saddened” by the accusations and said anything that had passed between them had been consensual.
