Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, RG Kevin Zeitler still sidelined at practice; RB J.K. Dobbins, S Marcus Williams making progress – Boston Herald

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, moving the team one step closer to starting backup Tyler Huntley in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jackson hurt his knee early in Sunday’s win over the Denver Broncos, and coach John Harbaugh indicated Monday that he was unlikely to play this week.

Right guard Kevin Zeitler (knee) missed his second straight practice, along with cornerback Daryl Worley (hamstring). Cornerback Marcus Peters, who rested Wednesday, and center Trystan Colon, who sat out Wednesday for personal reasons, were also absent.

Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (toe), meanwhile, returned to practice as a limited participant. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), a full participant Wednesday, was also limited, along with inside linebackers Patrick Queen (thigh) and Kristian Welch (concussion) and outside linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips (quadriceps).

The Ravens’ secondary could get a boost with the return of safety Marcus Williams, who is participating in his third week of practice since dislocating his wrist in a Week 5 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Williams could get activated off injured reserve for Sunday’s game.

“I kid with him … he’s got fresh legs right now, so he’s moving around really well,” defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald said. “He’s been going for a couple weeks now, so he looks the same this week as he did weeks prior as he’s kind of getting ready to go.”

Running back J.K. Dobbins is participating in his second week of practice since being designated to return. The 2020 second-round draft pick has missed the past seven games since he opted for cleanup surgery to hasten his recovery from a knee injury that sidelined him last season. Dobbins, who tore the ACL, LCL and meniscus in his left knee, along with his hamstring, in the 2021 preseason finale, has rushed for 123 yards on 3.5 yards per carry in four games this year.

“I really think that time off and what he was able to take care of is going to make a big impact on his effectiveness,” offensive coordinator Greg Roman said. “He’s really excited about being back; we’re excited about having him back.”

Four Steelers starters missed practice Thursday: wide receiver Diontae Johnson (hip), defensive linemen Cameron Heyward (rest) and Larry Ogunjobi (toe) and outside linebacker T.J. Watt (ribs). Starting running back Najee Harris (oblique) and starting right tackle Chuks Okorafor (shoulder) were both limited.
