Smoke and crowds poured out of another MBTA station Sunday afternoon — a flashback to earlier T troubles this summer.
Around 3 p.m., some overhead wire came down on the westbound Green Line track east of Park Street Station, MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo said.
Though sparks and billowing smoke shocked passengers — several of whom posted images and videos of the incident to Twitter — there were no injuries or fire, according to Pesaturo.
Police and fire trucks responded in droves quickly, but left the site within 20 minutes. T workers in the area directed passengers to nearby Red Line access.
“Buses are temporarily replacing Green Line service between Government Center and Kenmore while the MBTA Power Department makes repairs,” Pesaturo said in an email, adding that it is not yet clear how long those repairs will take.
This T incident comes after an Orange Line train caught on fire in July, and as the Orange Line is now shut down for weeks amid major repair work.
