Chicago Bears fans can bid on memorabilia from the personal collection of Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton during a Super Bowl auction next month.

Among the items up for live auction are a trio of presentational footballs that marked Payton setting the NFL’s all-time rushing record on Oct. 7, 1984, and a 1985 NFC offensive player of the year award. Some of Payton’s Pro Bowl awards, including his first one from 1977, his 1994 throwback jersey, a collection of more than 25 presentational game footballs and other items including cleats, golf clubs and racing suits also are available for bidding.

Hunt Auctions and NFL Auction are holding the Feb. 11 event, which also includes memorabilia from the collection of Baltimore Colts Hall of Famer Gino Marchetti. Hunt Auctions estimates the items could be sold from $1,000 for a presentational game football to up to $15,000 for one of the rushing record presentational footballs.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, Jarrett Payton Foundation and NFL Auction charities.

“It has been 35 years since my husband Walter left the playing field, completing one of most distinguished careers in the history of the NFL,” Connie Payton said in a statement.

“There are many items which we continue to cherish along with the countless memories from Walter which we hold dear with our family. We have decided to share a portion of the memorabilia from his career with the fans who passionately supported him during his time playing in the NFL. Walter’s legacy on the field and philanthropic efforts off of the field continue to provide a guiding light for our family.”

Online pre-bidding has begun at huntauctions.com.
